BAB’s cartoon, Mehbooba’s commentary

Srinagar, Dec 20:A sketch by noted cartoonist Bashir Ahmad Bashir made PDP president and former J&K Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti explain politics and also imply the struggling space of her party with dissidents leaving fast and thick over the last many months.

Sharing the cartoon, which apparently shows Farooq Abdullah with a megaphone looking for old MLAs amid other obsolete things, Mehbooba wrote: “Not only do cartoons have the rare ability of being prescient but convey more than words possibly can! Brilliant cartoon by BAB for Srinagar Times. Roughly translates to Dr Farooq Abdullah asking for used paper, boxes, tin and MLAs to purchase.

She then added: “Politics is all about expediency, permutations & combinations. Power is transient and is not something I have strived for. However, I stand firm in my commitment and resolve towards rebuilding a party I built brick by brick with my late father and its patron.”

BAB’s cartoon was published in Thursday edition, a day after former PDP leaders Basharat Bukhari and Peer Hussain switched to National Conference with news of many others to follow.
