Woman killed after being hit by a vehicle in downtown Srinagar; accused arrested

A woman died after being hit by a vehicle near Naqshband Sahib Shrine in the downtown area of Srinagar on Wednesday afternoon, meanwhile police have arrested the accused driver and the vehicle has been seized.

An official said that a woman identified as Shaheena Shabir wife of Shabir Ahmad Mir resident of Anzimar Khanyar died on the spot after being hit by an Ignis vehicle near Naqshband Sahib shrine downtown this afternoon.

He said that soon after the incident the body of a woman was shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard and have arrested the accused driver identified as Altaf Ahmad Sheikh resident of Pandan Nowhatta and the vehicle has also been seized, he said.
