Srinagar: The authorities at Srinagar airport Wednesday morning said they had roped in Beacon to clear the snow off and make the airport fit for operations.

“@Aaisnrairport (Srinagar airport) signed MOU with Beacon for snow removal from apron area and keeping parking stands free from snow so that when weather permits our areas should be fit for Operations,” read a tweet on the official handle of Srinagar Airport Wednesday morning.

Officials at the airport, another tweet on it read, “have been working very hard in coordination with  Beacon staff and continuously monitoring the area to avoid snow accumulation in apron area keeping in view that stranded Passengers may reach to their destination.”

“Srinagar has been receiving snowfall from 03.01.2020. Due to snowfall, all flights were cancelled on 03rd, 04th and 05th January 2021. #AAI #Srinagarairport is working proactively for public facilitation,” the airport authorities said in another tweet.

Meanwhile, over a dozen flights have already been cancelled this morning and it is highly unlikely that any flights will fly later in the day.
