WATCH: Massive fire leaves 14 families homeless in Baramulla

Srinagar: At least 14 families were rendered homeless after a fire engulfed nine residential houses in Old Town of Baramulla Saturday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said the fire erupted from a three storeyed residential house which within no time spread to other nearby houses causing a huge damage to the property. There was no information of any injuries in the incident.

Soom after the people saw the fire they informed the fire and emergency station Baramulla which acted swiftly and with the help of local youth tried their best to douse the fire.

Keeping in view the intensity of the fire, the fire engines from nearby places of the district were immediately called to the spot who joined the fire fight process.
Despite efforts by the fire department and local youth, nine structures got razed rendering 14 families homeless as per official data.

The police, army and officers from civil administration arrived at the spot and assured fire victims all the possible help. Fire victims appealed a suitable compensation so that they could reconstruct their houses as soon as possible.

The exact cause of fire could not be known immediately.
