Srinagar: Father of a slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is missing for 12 days now. After searching for him everywhere, his family has finally filed a missing complaint with the local police station.

Abdul Hameed Chopan (47), father of slain Hizb ‘commander’ Adil Hizbi, hasn’t returned home since July 16.

Chopan’s wife Gulshan Bano said: “He left home and told us that he is going to irrigate the land. But he didn’t return. We searched for him everywhere but couldn’t find any trace of him forcing us to lodge a missing report at Police station Tral,” she told news agency Kashmir News Observer.

“We are now just three members left in our family—me, my daughter and my son who is pursuing Bachelor’s Degree at Govt Degree College Tral. There is no one to feed the family now.”

Gulshan said they don’t have any information whether or not Chopan has joined any militant organization.

Chopan’s son Adil Ahmad alias Adil Hizbi was killed earlier this year.

Gulshan’s brother, who was also a militant, was killed in 2017.

A senior police official confirmed to KNO that Chopan is missing for the “last several days” and said they are investigating whether he has joined militant ranks or left home due to some other reason. (KNO)
