Infiltration bid foiled in Uri, 2 killed

Baramulla: Security forces on Friday morning thwarted an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri sector. Two intruders were killed and a cache of arms and ammunition was seized during the encounter.

According to officials, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Indian side of the border, which led to an exchange of fire with the JAK RIF forces. The forces effectively retaliated, resulting in the elimination of two infiltrators.

Following the encounter, a thorough search operation was conducted in the area, which led to the recovery of warlike stores. Among the seized items were 2 AK series rifles, 4 grenades, and other ammunition.

“Such infiltration attempts have a seasonal periodicity and cannot be generalized,” a top police official said, adding that the alertness and swift action of the troops stationed along the LoC played a crucial role in foiling this infiltration bid.

Providing details of the operation, the Chinar Corps tweeted, “Alert troops on LoC foiled an infiltration bid at Sabura Nala, Uri sector where 2 terrorists have been eliminated. 2 AK Rifles, 04 hand grenades, and other war-like stores have been recovered.”
