Srinagar, April 14: Former Trade Union President and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and parliamentary candidate for north Kashmir, Abdul Qayoom Wani strongly condemned the central government’s misuse of agencies like National Investigative Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to harass sons and daughters of Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Shabir Shah.

In a statement issued, Wani said, “that the NIA’s notice to Geelani’s son Naseem Geelani and ED’s notice to Shabir Shah’s daughter, both of whom are common civilians for the purpose of so called “investigation” tantamount to unnecessary harassment of the family members of Hurriyat leaders.

“Such harsh tactics of making relatives and family members of Hurriyat leaders did not yield any result in the past and such tactics will also not be of any use even today. If anything such draconian measures will only push ordinary Kashmiri even more towards the wall,” he added.

He further said that “I strongly condemn this action of the central agencies and urge the central government to desist from such measures that only make life even more miserable for ordinary Kashmiris.
