The trailer of Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India has been unveiled the today. The film is roughly based on the malpractices which are being carried out in the education system especially during the entrance exams for various respected fields like engineering, banking, management and other coveted tests.

Emraan as Rakesh helps aspiring students get through the toughest entrances by taking money from them and making a team toppers write the exam on their behalf. He accepts cash and promises a seat in a coveted institution in return.

Cheat India ruthlessly mocks the corrupt practices that take place in India. Although the film has a predictable plot, Emraan pulls off his character with aplomb.

The film will also mark the debut of Shreya Dhanwanthary and features over 40 theatre actors, who were cast by the makers after extensive auditioning.

The shooting of the film was wrapped up in September this year. Earlier, while announcing the project, the 39-year-old had said that the film will take a startling look at the crimes in the Indian education system ‘which has created a parallel ecosystem infested with a mafia of sorts’. He had further said that he was excited to be essaying a character which he believes will be a landmark one in his filmography.

‘Cheat India’ is helmed by ‘Gulaab Gang’ director Soumik Sen. This is the second flick from Hashmi’s production house- Emraan Hashmi Films.

The film will hit the big screens on January 25, 2019, and is most likely to face a Box Office clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: Queen Of Jhansi’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Super 30’.
