Xiaomi Mi Box S With 4K HDR, Android TV Launched, Up for Pre-Orders

Taking forward its lean portfolio of products in the US market, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its latest Mi Box S 4K Ultra HD streaming media player in the North American country. Powered by Android 8.1 Oreo-based Android TV, and coupled with a voice-enabled remote control, the new Xiaomi Mi Box S comes with inbuilt Chromecast support and Google Assistant. The 4K-enabled streaming media player is priced at a retail price of $59.99 (roughly Rs. 4,500) and is up for pre-orders on Walmart.com. It will start shipping from November 4 in the US.
The Mi Box S is up for pre-orders in the US in a single Black colour option. This streaming gadget joins the slim Xiaomi US portfolio that previously consists of the Mi Power Bank Pro 10000mAh; a few Mi Headphones; the Mi Bluetooth Speaker; a home security camera, action camera, and Mi Sphere Camera, as well as certain lifestyle products. This is the first time we have seen the Mi TV Box S go official considering it is not listed on Xiaomi’s official China website.

The Xiaomi Mi Box S supports a 4K (2160×4096 pixels) resolution with HDR quality at 60fps, and runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Cortex A53 CPU, coupled with a Mali-450 GPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 8GB of eMMC storage. In terms of connectivity, the media player gets dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.2. Ports include 1 USB 2.0 port, 1 power interface, 1 HDMI 2.0a, and 1 audio out.
Other than that, the Xiaomi Mi Box S supports 4K footage at 60fps, and most other major formats including H.265, H.264, VP9, Dolby, DTS, Mp4, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIF, and many more. Dimensions of the Mi Box S are 95.25×95.25×16.7mm and weight is 147 grams. In the box, you get 1 remote control, 1 user manual, 2 batteries, 1 power adapter, and 1 HDMI cable.
