Srinagar, June 27: Kashmiri students doing B Tech at Swami Devi Dyal (SDD) Institute of Engineering and Technology in Haryana on Monday accused the college of duping them.
The students told The Kashmir Monitor said that they took admission in August 2016.
“We approached the admission cell of the college at Panchkula, Haryana, and were told that the college is affiliated to the Kurukshetra University (KU). We were assured that we would be registered with the said university,” said a student pursuing B Tech in civil engineering.
The students said they were surprised to learn after two semesters that their registration could not be completed.
Demanding refund, the students said they don’t want others to suffer.
“We were to pay Rs 5 lakh for the course, of which we have paid Rs 1.5 lakh each. At the time of signing the affidavit, an amount of Rs 70,000 was returned, but the remaining amount is still with the college,” another student said.
Chairman of the college, Moti Lal Jindal, said he was unaware of the issue.
“I will talk to the concerned and will get back to you,” he said.
He, however, didn’t respond to the calls made afterwards.
