Students who passed two or more subjects in Class X, XII to be promoted without exams: BOSE

Srinagar:  Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Monday announced that students of Class X and XII,  who have passed two or more subjects and were supposed to appear in biannual exams, will be promoted to next class without a test.

The bi-examination of class 10th and 12th was scheduled to be held from March. However, due to the outbreak of the virus, it was deferred.

Joint Secretary Exams, Ajaz Hakak told The Kashmir Monitor that the students who have a backlog in three subjects will be promoted to the next class. “The marks of the backlog subjects will be awarded by taking the mean of the marks scored in the already passed subject,” he said.

According to the notification issued by the BOSE, the marks in the 5th subject shall be awarded by taking the mean of the marks scored in the already passed four subjects.

“The marks in the 4th subject shall be awarded by taking the mean of the marks scored in the already passed three subjects. Marks in the 5th the subject will be awarded by taking the mean of four subjects,” reads the notification.

It further says that the marks in the 3rd subject shall be awarded by taking the mean of the marks scored in the already passed two subjects. Marks in 4th and 5th subjects shall be awarded by taking the mean of the marks scored in the three and four subjects.

“All candidates who are declared pass by applying the formula shall be granted admission in class 11th for the current session in relaxation of 66% the requirement of minimum attendance as a one-time exception” reads the notifications.

However, the candidates who have failed in all the subject fresh/private or who have been placed under reappear category in four subjects of class 10th and 12th of Jammu and Kashmir will not be promoted. The examination of these candidates will be preferably in the 2nd quarter of September.

The promoted candidates of class 10th shall be allowed to appear in class 11th annual examinations 2020-2021.

The provisional admission of candidates who fails to qualify the class 11th examination 2020-2021 annual/bi-annual/ private shall be treated as canceled and they shall not be allowed to appear in class 12th annual regular examination.

For the candidates who have applied for the divisional improvement or appearing in an additional subject of class 12th Annual/ Bi-annual/ private 2019-2010 shall also be allowed to appear in the forthcoming examination.

Moreover, the candidates having passed two or more subjects and express dissatisfaction over their result declared after awarding marks by taking the mean of the already passed subject shall have the option to appear in examination with the candidates who have failed in all subjects.

  1. Why this is only for Kashmir students, rules are same so this should be for jammu students also
