Soura residents demand adequate transport facilities on Ali Jan road

Srinagar, Feb 8: The residents of Dr. Ali Jan Road Soura on Thursday demanded adequate transport facility upto Lal chowk, citing frequent overloading on the route.

Commuters said, that they are facing immense hardships especially in morning and evening time as the local buses, which pass through this route, are overloaded,” said a group of local shopkeeper.

The employees and students of Ali Jan road, Syedpora, Idgah are the worst sufferers who claim they are reach late to their offices and colleges respectively.

“We always board an overcrowded minibuses which tread at an snails pace. We appeal the authorities to depute more vehicles so that all the students and employees will have a sigh of relief from the never-ending traffic jams and overloading,” said a college student Saba Bashir.

She added that many students prefer on-foot journey to their offices and schools during hot summers due to the absence of adequate buses.

Echoing similar views, an employee Fayaz Ahmad said,’’ We are supposed to reach office at 10am but we end up  reaching one hour late always.”

The inhabitants appealed concerned authorities to take initiative to address their issue.

When contacted Regional Transport Officer (RTO), he assured to put more vehicles in service for the residents of Ali Jan road.
