‘Shakuni Mama’: Gufi Paintal is no more

Veteran television and movie actor Gufi Paintal has passed away. 

He had become a household name after portraying the character of Shakuni Mama in television serial Mahabharat.

Gufi also worked in TV shows such as Bahadur Shah Zafar, Kanoon, Om Namah Shivay, CID, Ssshhhh…Koi Hai, Dwarkadheesh Bhagwaan Shree Krishn, Radha Krishn and Jay Kanhaiya Lal Ki. He featured in films like Dillagi, Desh Pardesh, and Suhaag.

His heart gave up. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. Gufi Paintal’s acting credits also include 1980s Hindi films such as “Suhag”, “Dilag”, as well as television shows “CID” and “Hello Inspector”, but his manipulative uncle act as Shakuni mama, the king of Gandhara region and master of the dice, from BR Chopra’s “Mahabharat” made him a household name.
