SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 02: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Friday took holistic review of arrangements at prime religious places for smooth observance of Shab-e-Meraj and the following Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Div Com directed concerned officers to ensure the availability of all civic amenities including drinking water, power, and medical facilities besides sanitation at Shrines, Mosques particularly at Aasar-i-Sharief Hazratbal, Aasar-i-Sharief Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg, Ziyarat Sharief Khiram, Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama, Ziyarat Aham –i- Sharief Bandipora where devotees throng in huge numbers to offer prayers on the night of Shab-e-Meraj.
The meeting was attended by DCs, officers of FCS&CA, Health Services, PDD, PHE, R&B, SMC, Sanitation, Horticulture Department, SRTC, Traffic Department and police.
On the occasion, Div Com directed PDD to ensure an uninterrupted power supply and SMC was instructed to ensure the functioning of street lights.
Similarly, PHE was asked to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water at all religious places besides keeping water tankers available at Hazratbal Shrine.
Also, RTC was asked to arrange adequate transportation via all connected routes to Aasar-e-Sharif Hazratbal, especially during Shab (night prayers), and identification of parking areas for the convenience of vehicle owners.
Div Com directed that an extra number of buses should be allotted at the time of dispersing of devotees after offering prayers.
He directed the Fire & Emergency department to station fire tenders near specific locations for the safety of people and infrastructure.
The concerned officer of SMC was directed to conduct sanitation drives at Shrines and mosques besides tasking a team for dog catching at Hazratbal Shrine.
Moreover, he urged for the deployment of a team of doctors and paramedics, along with ambulances, across all mentioned locations, especially at Aasar-e-Sharief Hazratbal.
Besides, all the DCs were asked to take stock of arrangements given Shab –i-Mehraj in their respective districts particularly at prime religious locations, and ensure the availability of all civic amenities to facilitate the people.
Police officers were directed to make security arrangements while traffic police were asked to chalk a proper plan for smooth traffic movement on identified routes
