SRINAGAR, MAY 08: Doctors Association Kashmir has expressed anguish and regret over the insensitive and callous attitude of some Health administrators for charging its employees transport fare during the times of turmoil.
Doctors and Paramedics risk their lives to reach their destination to deliver their services irrespective of turmoil, flood, adverse weather conditions, said Dr Suhail Naik- President DAK. Time and again our Healthcare delivery system has proved its metal to run the Services, what so ever was a ground situation in the Valley, Dr Naik added.
In budget 2018, State Government has kept 1 ? of revenue collected by the revenue generating departments reserved for upgradation and transportation for the said department but unfortunately no such allocations were made for Health Sector. We time and again demand that atleast 5 percent of Hospital Development Fund must be kept reserved for handling need based emergencies in the Health sector, but as always it has fallen into deaf ears. It is unfortunate and sad state of affairs that on one hand majority of hospitals in valley don’t have available infrastructure to accommodate its staff and on other hand they don’t take appropriate measures to transport them to and fro. We demand that Government must purchase special buses for transportation of health employees during periods of turmoil and request the Hon’ble Health Minister to intervene at an earliest by providing free and safe transportation to the Health employees.
It is pertinent to mention here that State of Jammu and Kashmir has received two National Health awards and Infant Mortality rate has declined to 24 per thousand due to blood and sweat of its comrades.
