Protest against shifting of JD office from Sopore

Sopore, March 20: Scores of people from Sopore and its adjoining areas staged protest against the plans to transfer recently inaugurated Joint Director Education office from Sopore to Baramulla.
Large number of people under one banner Joint Coordination Committee which including Traders Federation, Civil Society, Bar Association, Beopar Mandal, Fruit Growers, Teachers Forum, and others assembled at Iqbal Market Sopore and staged a peaceful protest against the shifting of JD office from the town.
The protestors strongly opposed this move and claimed that they will not allow shifting this office from this area.
The protestors said Joint Director Education for north Kashmir Post was announced by State Govt before two years and finally after long struggle concern officer joined office last week.
“We are against the decision of shifting this office to Baramulla. They will be left with no other option, but to block the roads if the decision was not taken back,” they said.
The protestors raised slogans against administration and alleged that it was conspiracy against the people of Sopore town. The protestors later took out a peaceful rally at Iqbal Market.
President Traders Federation Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf said that state government in a formal order announced that Joint Director Education office will run at DIET.
However, the protesters said they will go for bigger protests if JD office will be shifted from town.
