NC women’s wing protest against pesky power supply

Srinagar, Nov 19: National Conference Women’s Wing on Monday took out a protest march from party headquarters Nawa-e-Subah against the pesky power supply and inconsistent water deliverance across the valley.

JKNC Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous who lead the demonstration criticized the governor administration for not rising up to the occasion to mitigate the day to day woes of the people. “The winter has just set in and areas in the city are witnessing massive power outages.

If this is the situation of power supply in the city, the situation in far flung areas can only be gauged,” she said.
Shameema said that the common populace especially the student fraternity are at the receiving end of all this. “The incumbent government, it seems has left citizenry to fend for themselves. They should have upgraded the transmission to meet the ever increasing demands of the people,” she said.

She said the PDP-BJP government didn’t do anything in augmenting the basic infrastructure viz-a-viz power distribution. “A government is supposed to foresee the increasing demands of the people, but to our consternation the former PDP-BJP government was busy blinding and bruising people,” she said.

“No big power project or water supply scheme was commissioned in the state under the former PDP-BJP regime. The state, especially the valley of Kashmir is reeling under somber darkness since government offices moved to Jammu,” she said.

She said National Conference being a people’s representative cannot shut its eyes and ears to the mounting woes of people. “Today we were obligated to take out a demonstration to stir the slumber ridden administration. The erratic power supply, the inconsistent water supplies have aggravated the people up to glottis,” she said.

She said that National Conference is live to the issues of people and that its leadership is raising the issues of people at every forum. “People still remember how fast the administration maneuvered during the Omar Abdullah led government,” she said.
