Srinagar, Mar 18: National Conference president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah Wednesday said the party “commands people’s confidence and awe” as a consequence of “good work which it has rendered in shape of elevating people from despondency to prosperity.”

The senior Abdullah said so while meeting scores of delegations from across Kashmir at his residence.

The delegations, who had come to greet Farooq, comprised of workers, party functionaries, delegates and civil society groups from Handwara, Qazigund, Amirakadal, Baramulla, Bandipura, Noorabad, Pulwama, and Bandipura.

Addressing the visiting delegation, Farooq thanked all those who had thronged his residence.

“Our idea of politics is shorn of all biases. We will continue to be a friend to people. The socio-political emancipation of poor and downtrodden has been the corner stone of our politics. Ours is a people’s party, a true representative of people’s aspirations and dreams, a party which has given platform to all without any discrimination. Our idea of politics is inclusive,” Farooq said.

Expressing gratitude to the visiting delegations, the NC president said that he is appreciative of the love and affection that he has received from people.

“I express my gratitude to all who prayed for me. I am overwhelmed with the support we have received from the people. The enthusiasm of workers and delegates is indeed elevating,” he said.
