Moment, a company known for making camera accessories for smartphones, has decided to venture out and create a software offering as well. While the company had a basic camera app that accompanied its Moment cases, it lacked the amount of controls that this new app brings. The company has now launched the Moment – Pro Camera app for both Android and iOS bringing new features and more controls. On Google Play, the app costs Rs. 140 for download, and on iOS it can be installed for free with the ‘Pro Camera’ mode available as an in-app purchase.
The ‘Pro Camera’ functions on iOS can be availed after an in-app purchase which costs Rs. 249. The Moment-Pro Camera brings with it full manual controls for focus, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. You can even shoot in ether RAW format for the highest quality images. Of course this app works only with a few handsets, and requires Android 7.0 and above, and iOS 10 or later to work properly. Moment – Pro Camera also requires the full support for Google’s Camera 2 API which enables many of the manual controls to function correctly.
Moment – Pro Camera lets you view detailed metadata for captured photos, and judge brightness values with an on-screen live histogram. In the iOS app, you can choose to save photos in HEIF, JPEG, or uncompressed RAW or TIFF images. There’s no portrait mode in the camera app, even if your smartphone sports a dual camera setup. However, the app lets you choose which module to work with.
While the Android app doesn’t support videos as of yet, the iOS app can shoot videos in multiple resolutions and frame rate options. There is also EIS, and all the manual controls available while shooting photos is also available while shooting video. You can purchase the app from Google Play or download it for iOS right away.
