Srinagar, Oct 12: Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir on Friday expressed deep shock over the loss of a highly qualified young and budding intellectual of Kashmir Manan Wani who was killed along with an associate in a gunfight with the government forces yesterday.
“This bloodshed is the result of non-resolution of the long pending Kashmir issue badly affecting millions of people living in Jammu and Kashmir region…” said a Jama’at spokesman, in a statement.
Calling India to resolve the dispute, he said: “If India is sincere in stopping the bloodshed and the human loss in this region, then it should come forward and start a meaningful dialogue with the government of Pakistan and the real representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and find a just and stable solution of this human issue keeping in view the aspirations of the people living therein.”
He said the “suppression and oppression” of the common people and the killing spree is not going to yield any results at all. “… and these tactics only add fuel to the fire which can engulf the whole South-Asian region in the future.”
Jama’at also expressed deep concern over the mysterious killing of Tariq Ahmad Ganaie of Meemander Shopian.
“Jama’at demands an impartial probe into such killings by some international agency so that the culprits behind these killings are exposed before the public,” he said.
