Hurriyat activist booked under PSA, shifted to Jammu

Anantnag, Oct 12: Authorities on Friday booked a Hurriyat activist from South Kashmir under contentious Public Safety Act and shifted him to Kotbhalwal Jammu jail.

The activist has been identified as Sheikh Sartaj of Anchidora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A police official said that Sartaj was the brain child of protests in the area. He said that this activist organized anti-India protests when a civilian Rouf Ahmed Ganaie of Al-Farooq Colony Anchidora was killed near encounter site in Devsar Kulgam.

The official said that Sartaj is also a lower rung Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist. (CNS)
