SRINAGAR, SEP 20: Imam Hussain (RA) represents resilience, courage and steadfastness and identifies with the oppressed not the oppressors, said the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday.
According to a statement issued, Malik addressed a Muharram congregation at Basant Bagh Gaw Kadal on Thursday.
He said that Imam-e-Hussain (RA) and his family strived for a righteous cause and sacrificed their lives for it.
He said that the struggle in Kashmir is also the struggle of the oppressed and hence a continuation of Karbala.
Malik said that “Indian-sponsored and forced elections are meant to legalize oppression and hence deserve a total boycott”.
“We should adhere to the principle ‘No election till right to self-determination’ and refrain from participating in any such process,” he said.
JKLF chairman said that the battle of Karbala marks a distinction between truth and falsehood and makes us recall that in the continuing struggle between truth and false, the last victory always belongs to the truth.
