Srinagar, Oct 9: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mehmood Shah on Tuesday paid tribute to Kashmiris for “boycotting” the elections.

“The elections were nothing other than a drama by the Indian government. The lowest ever turnout in elections have proved to the world that the people of Jammu Kashmir are on one page to get freedom,” LeT spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement quoted Shah as saying.

“Hurriyat leadership, Mujahideen and people, all are on one page, and the only way they have opted is freedom,” Shah said.

“Indian forces have completely failed to suppress the freedom movement. PDP and National Conference, which were pro-India, have also rejected to be part of the election drama. We pray for them to quit Indian friendship and instead of personal gains start thinking about people,” LeT chief said.
Mehmood Shah said all efforts of New Delhi have completely failed and Kashmir is slipping out of India’s hands every passing day.

“India is no more in position to hide human rights violations in the state,” Lashkar chief said.
