Srinagar, Jan 25: National Conference on Friday expressed concern over the continuous closure of national highway and demanded airlifting of the stranded passengers at Jammu.

Party’s south zone president Dr Bashir Veeri castigated the state government for turning a blind eye towards the plight of Kashmiris stranded at Jammu and on the highway owing to closure of national highway for the last five days.

“Governor administration must immediately deploy teams to provide food and accommodation to those stranded at Jammu. Besides there is a huge number who are stuck on the highway and are facing extreme difficulties in view of food and water shortage,” he said.

Dr Veeri implored upon the governor to immediately airlift the stranded passengers to Srinagar.

Meanwhile party spokesperson and Kulgam in-charge Imran Nabi Dar decried the Kulgam district administration for their slack approach towards mitigating the problems Kulgam is facing after the recent snowfall.

“Many roads in Kulgam are still under snow and no effort is being made to clear them. Electricity and water supply to many areas continues to remain cut off,” he said demanding a performance audit of the district administrative officers.
