Govt committed to shift CUK to Ganderbal: Div Com

SRINAGAR, MAY 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Monday chaired a meeting to review the modalities for completing shifting of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) to Ganderbal.

The meeting was informed that the CMO and DIET buildings in Ganderbal have already been transferred to CUK and the varsity has shifted the administration unit to these buildings, adding that 36 rooms in the Government Physical College Ganderbal are ready and will be handed over to CUK on May 28.

The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to complete the pending finishing work of RUSA building on war-footing and hand over it to the CUK authorities within a month. He also instructed for constructing temporary pre-fabricated structures in the campus to meet the requirement of students.

DC Ganderbal was also asked to identify a suitable patch of land for CUK and also send the DPR for upgradation of roads to the Divisional Commissioner’s office so that the work will be started soon.

The meeting was also informed that NBCC will hand over first building on May 30 and second building on June 30 to the CUK.

The Div Com said the government is committed to earliest shifting of the entire university campus to Ganderbal. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Vice Chancellor CUK, Registrar CUK, representative of NBCC and other concerned officers.
