Farooq, Omar, Sajad condole deaths in Khardung La Pass avalanche

Srinagar, Jan 18: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in an avalanche that took place at Khardungla pass in Ladakh.

The party spokesman in a statement said that the duo has urged the administration to expedite the rescue operation and ensure all support to the families of the deceased.

Meanwhile, both Party President and Vice President urged the governor administration to gear up its men and machinery to meet any eventuality in wake of heavy snowfall as predicted by the local MET officials.

Impressing upon the administration to ensure that people don’t have to suffer due to the vagaries of weather, the duo urged the administration to ensure all arterial and other routes are kept open to avoid any suffering to people.

Meanwhile, Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar urged the administration to clear snow from roads on a priority basis. He urged the divisional commissioner to activate their field staff to meet any eventualities and exigencies arising after a snowfall.

Sagar impressed upon the administration to ensure all basic and effective amenities to people living in remote areas including Keran, Tangdhar, Tulail, Kargil, Machil and Gurez.

He urged upon the administration to provide a quick and efficient operational response to the vagaries of weather, said party spokesman in a statement.

Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman and former minister, Sajad Gani Lone has also expressed grief over the deaths occurred due to an avalanche in Khardung La Pass area of Ladakh.

Lone expressing sorrow over the incident, prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also prayed for the courage to bereaved families.

He also urged the administration to expedite the rescue operation and ensure all support to the families of the deceased.
