DySP among 7 cops injured in Kupwara mishap

Srinagar, Nov 16: A deputy superintendent of police was among seven cops injured in a road accident near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last evening, police said on Friday.
An official said that a vehicle (registration number JK09 7831) driven by SgCt Majid Hussain (597/IRP) turned turtle around 6:45 PM in Keran, leaving seven cops injured.
He identified the injured as DySp Bodh Raj of IR-4th BN, Sgct Raten Lal (439/IRP-4th), SgCt Majid Hussain (597/IRP-4th), SgCt Operator (Telecom) Irshad Ahmad (2863/PW), Ct Sanjay (406/IRP-4th), Ct. Ramesh 789/IRP-4th and Ct. Khursheed Ahmad (1173/KP).
“Dysp Bodh Raj was referred to SMHS from PHC Keran,” he said, adding that the rest of the cops suffered minor injuries and were treated at PHC Keran.
He said the wireless equipment which was in the vehicle got damaged too.
The official said the police party was deputed for Panchayat election duty scheduled to begin on Saturday.
“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up,” official added.
Later in the day, the injured DySP was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi. The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, IGP Kashmir SP Pani saw him off at Airport, alongwith his family for AIIMS New Delhi.
