SRINAGAR, JULY 16: Taking note of concerns about presence of inferior-quality medicines in markets, the enforcement wing of the J&K Drug & Food Control Organization (JKDFCO) has begun lifting samples of various categories of drugs from public distribution system as well as the open market.
The samples are being sent to a government analyst notified by the State for furnishing opinion with regard to their identity, purity and strength.
Manufacturers found guilty of production of inferior quality drugs will be subjected to court trials under enabling provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. Several guilty manufacturers have in fact already been penalised for committing breaches.
