Srinagar, Sept 04: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan on Tuesday visited Flood Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) which has been set up at Gogo land, Humhama to review its preparedness.

This Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) has been set up to ensure uninterrupted communications in the event of any emergency situation especially floods.

Div Com inspected the Flood Relief Centre set up alongside the EOC, which has tented accommodation, toilets for men and women, stocks of rations and medicines. This Centre can meet any eventuality by accommodating the affected population.

He issued directions to the concerned officers to be fully prepared to meet any exigency arising due to floods. He also directed linking the communication set up with all District level Emergency Operation Centres in the Valley.

The Divisional Commissioner also inspected SDRF, NDRF, medical & SMC camps where equipments were displayed for the visiting dignitary. He also inspected the communication centre where satellite phone is already installed.

Baseer Khan directed the agencies and camps to work in tandem to meet any natural calamity. He asked them to keep men and machinery ready for the purpose so that the people during floods may not suffer.

The Divisional Commissioner inspected the site plan of JK Disaster Management infrastructure which will be constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.

He asked the officers to start the work soon on this project and complete the same within the stipulated time frame.

DC Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, DC Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Director Disaster Management Aamir Ali, Joint Commissioner SMC, Joint Director CS&CA, Superintending Engineers from R&B, PDD, PHE, I&FC, SP telecom, SP Traffic, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, SP Control room, Dy. Commandant SDRF, and other concerned officers were accompanied with the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
