Sajad questions Omar’s silence over meeting with BJP leadership in 2014
Srinagar, April 17: Peoples Conference (PC) chairman and former minister, Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday questioned the silence maintained by former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah over his meeting with the BJP leadership in New Delhi following 2014 elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Lone had recently claimed that Omar had met BJP leadership in 2014 to work out power sharing arrangement in the State.
Earlier in the day, Omar when asked about the claims made by Lone told the reporters that they should ask this question to Ram Madhav.
Talking to media Lone said he did not name Ram Madhav.
“I know Ram Madhav denied the story in 2014. A rumour is not to be believed unless it is officially denied. And why isn’t Omar replying. Why is he saying, ask Ram Madhav? Does that mean Ram Madhav was there? When did I name Ram Madhav? I said BJP top brass. That Omar is saying ask Ram Madhav means that at least one participant in the meeting has been identified,” he said.
Sajad said that Omar should answer the question in a simple yes or no.
“This is a simple question which can be answered with a yes or no. With every passing day it is clear that our assertions about the meeting are unambiguously true. He is himself substantiating our claims and creating evidence.”
He added that one non-NC, non -BJP politician was also present in the meeting.
“I repeat, he (Omar) met them. He discussed modalities of government formation and agreed on rotational chief minister. Omar had tea. I think ‘Pakoras’ were also served,” Lone said.

Ring Road, 440 KV transmission line: Shah Faesal demands fair compensation, rehabilitation of affected farmers
Srinagar, April 17 : Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) Wednesday demanded that people affected by Semi Ring Road and 440 KV DC Samba-Amargrah transmission line should be rehabilitated, resettled and compensated adequately without any delay as a large number of affected people in many districts are crying for justice from last more than two years.
In a statement issued to media, JKPM president Shah Faesal said that agriculture and horticulture land in the State is under tremendous pressure as state is losing its fertile land on daily basis for developmental projects like highways and transmission lines.
“In return, due to obsolete land acquisition laws, the affected farmers are not given fair compensation like in other parts of India under Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (RTFCLARR Act ) and Right to Fair Compensation,” he said.
Faesal said that State Govt has no clear policy for rehabilitation and resettlement in J&K. “A huge chunk of land comprising about 8000 kanals is being acquired for Ring Road projects in Srinagar and Jammu.
“In return farmers get stamp duty rate of their land which is even 4 to 5 times less than the market value,” Faesal said, adding that Agriculture and Horticulture departments prepare estimates as per 1993 rates which is sheer injustice with them.
With the result, he said affected orchardists and farmers get 5 to 10 times less compensation than market value. He said affected farmers have alleged that the concerned departments are resorting to favouritism and corruption and prepare vague estimates for compensation.
He said more than 5000 hectares of agriculture and forest land has been affected by 440 KV DC Samba Amargrah transmission line from Samba to Amargrah Sopore, adding that in many Budgam villages, the transmission line passes through fully grown apple and pear orchards.
“Even some residential houses have been affected as they
come within the electrical magnetic field especially in Batwodder , Branwar ,
Kachwari , Watrad villages of Chararisharief and Khansahib areas in Budgam
The touts and some employees of Transmission Company are fleecing the common people on the promise of land compensation. The affected farmers have alleged that instead of processing compensation cases of genuine people, money is fraudulently given to people whose land has not come under the said projects,” he said.
Faesal said that Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) demanded a high-level investigation into the matter so that allegations of fraud in the distribution of compensation are looked into adequately.
