Declaring JK Bank as PSU is attack on state’s identity: Nizamudin Bhat

Srinagar, Nov 25: Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has said that SAC decision declaring J&K Bank as a PSU is an attack on another symbol of state’s identity and its distinct constitutional status.
Bhat in a statement said earlier it was the Muslim Wakf Board and SKIMS Board which has been undermined and fiddled with on misplaced notions.
Bhat said the decision regarding J&K Bank further exposes the design to tinker with all such institutions which are wedded to state’s social, political and constitutional structure.
“The reasons offered by government, justifying it are erroneous, misplaced and reflective of an anti-Kashmiri, anti-state mindset.”
Bhat said Bank is governed by Board and the Reserve Bank norms and governments reasoning is an incitement of both.
He said the suggestion from PDP President Mehbooba Mufti for roll back of the SAC decision deserves immediate response from the Government. “Erosion of Bank’s autonomy will spoil its growth. It is ironical that Government has shown no concern for long affiliation and regard of the people for this institution, which they have nourished with care and belonging.”
He said SAC members have ridiculed peoples’ investment and have thrown open a challenge to stake holders whose dedication and honesty also has been put to question.
Bhat has expressed surprised over the statement of justice (rtd) Hussain supporting the SAC action.
He said former PDP Finance Minister has in turn done a service to state whose opposition brings on record the tenable grounds in defiance of government action which need to be understood and pursued till the unpopular and “regressive” action is undone.
Bhat said people of the state need to know how few retired bureaucrats have reversed most of the people-friendly decisions of popular government and how brazenly they have superseded well-oriented laws only to show that autonomy and identity of the state and its erosion was their sole mission and agenda.
Bhat hoped that this kind of arrogance will not be tolerated by the people and will prove short-lived.

Political uncertainty in valley outcome of broken promises: Hakeem

Published

Jammu, Jan 18: Saying that the prevailing socio-political uncertainty in the state was the result of broken promises, Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has said that all political parties are equally responsible for the ongoing bloodshed and mayhem in the state especially in Kashmir valley.

In a statement issued to media, Hakeem Yaseen has said that political parties should take responsibility of the political mess created by their wrong Kashmir policies during last 7 decades adding that they should openly apologize before the people for their betrayals and follies instead of indulging in mudslinging against each other. He said all the parties equally responsible for the prevailing horrible situation in the valley.

“Instead of leg plugging, political parties at the helm of affairs should go for self-introspection as to how people of the state were repeatedly betrayed by them for satiating their power lust and how peoples interests were brazenly bartered to appease their mentors at the Center,” Hakeem Yaseen said, adding that people were promised right to self determination, internal autonomy and safeguard to Article 370 and whatnot but were always betrayed after getting their votes.

He said same parties are nowadays seeking massive mandate from the people on the plank of safeguarding Article 35-A but they forget that the memory of people was not so short-lived that they could be deceived and exploited once again this time. He said all the mainstream political parties in the state should rise above their political affiliations and join hands to jointly seek ways and means for taking people of the state out of the swamp of ongoing death and destruction.

“By changing colors like chameleons, they cannot befool the people of the state this time,” Hakeem Yaseen maintained.

“Omar Abdullah did not even protest when BJP-led government threw the autonomy resolution into dustbin. The NC can go to any extent to grab power,” he said.

Vakil in his statement lambasted National Conference leadership for exploiting people in the name of protection of Article 370.“ NC is one of the eroders of the Article 370,” he said.

He said Farooq Abdullah can stoop to any extent for grabbing power.

Kuka Parray part of script drafted by late Mufti Syed: NC

Published

Srinagar, Jan 17: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday rejected the canards of Naeem Akhtar as “uncouth and reflective of his political bankruptcy” and said that Kuka Parray worked as per the script drafted by late Mufti Syed as home minister of India.

In a statement issued to media, North Zone President and former Minister Mohammad Akbar lone said that accusations against NC are coming from a person to which PDP owes its disintegration.

Mohammad Akbar Lone while rejecting the jibes of a self styled leader as travesty of facts said, “Nayeem Akhtar belongs to a gang which has been drawing its sustenance from RSS and other forces as are hostile to the special position of the state,” he said, adding that as an assistant of Mufti Muhammad Syed during his tenure as central minister, Akhtar remained equally involved in destabilizing the state.

“He continued to work for Mufti Syed by resorting to writing ghost articles under a pen name ‘Satar Wagay’. As a sequacious writer he continued to target only National conference on a daily basis in spite of being a working bureaucrat then. Politicians like Nayeem Akhtar typify opportunism and political bankruptcy as it was him and his party which joined hands with RSS just to satiate their lust for power,” he said adding that it was difficult to understand as to which side of political divide he belongs to.

North Zone President said, “Nayeem Akhtar’s recent assertions on Kuka Parray are unsubstantiated due to the fact that NC workers were the one who suffered most during the hay days of the renegade era in Kashmir.”

“People are not that gullible, they know that it was late Mufti Syed who presided over 18 massacres as home minister, was the brain behind Ikhwan and was instrumental in extending the dreaded AFSPA to the state. Renegades like Kuka Parray owe their being to the policies of Mufti Syed that he pursued during his stint as home minister of India,” he said.

The north zone president said that Nayeem Akhtar has been a point man of BJP-RSS right from early seventies and owing to his services he was given ministerial berths in two consecutive Muftis led governments.

“Otherwise how can a political low weight with no political base get higher ministerial berths?” he said adding “National conference had to suffer immensely at the hands of Kukka Parray, and that the local party functionaries of Sumbal Sonawari belt had to migrate to escape from the wrath of the renegades,” he said.

“National conference has a base in people in Sumbal–Sonawari, and I have been representing the seat for many consecutive terms. We as a party don’t support violence rather we have always been the victims,” he added.

Bail plea of separatist detainees shouldn’t be opposed: Mir

Srinagar, Jan 17: Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president and former minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Thursday said that the government has failed to produce challan in the court against the separatist leaders who have been arrested almost a year ago over the charges of alleged terror funding.

Mir in a statement to media said that even after one year has elapsed since the separatist leaders were arrested, the government has failed to produce challan against the leaders and at the same time are creating obstacles to them in getting bail.

“The bail plea of the detainees is being opposed by the government. This is not fair and against the natural justice as one hand they are not producing challan and on the other they are creating obstacle to them in getting the bail. Giving bail to any person doesn’t mean a clean chit to any accused,” he added.

He added wife of one among the detainees, Shahid-ul-Islam is on death bed and govt should not become obstacle to him in getting the bail.
