Srinagar, Oct 18: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Thursday welcomed the appointment of health directors for Jammu and Kashmir divisions. State government has appointed Dr Kunzes Dolma as Director Health Services Kashmir and Dr Sameer Matoo as Director Health Services Jammu. In a press release issued to the media, DAK president Dr Suhail Naik hailing the appointments, said, “Both the appointed health directors have impeccable integrity, and excellent administrative skills and are right persons to head the prestigious health institutions of the state.” “We are hopeful that appointment of new directors will bring accountability in the system and will end corruption, nepotism and favoritism in the department” Dr Naik added. General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar, while congratulating both the newly appointed directors said that we are highly satisfied that government has chosen doctors with utmost seniority and credibility for the highest chair and we are very much hopeful that now the rural health care system will grow and shine under their dynamic leadership. To get back integrity, prestige and glory of the sacrosanct health institution, DAK demands that appointment of the new directors should set the precedence to appoint rest of administrative heads like CMO, BMO and medical superintendents etc on seniority, respecting the current recruitment rules. Dr Mohd Ashraf Shah, Joint secretary DAK added that parachuting of junior medical officers or junior consultants to the posts of health administrators is one of the major reason that department is in complete mess and shambles. Appointment of juniors to administrative posts has resulted in “gross mismanagement” and total indiscipline that in turn has eaten away whole department.
