COVID19: J&K Govt forms task force for employment, recruitment, business package

Srinagar: Amid the countrywide lockdown due to coronavirus, the government in J&K Tuesday constituted a task force on restoring economic activity and employment in the Union Territory.

An official order accorded sanction to the constitution of an eight-member task force which will develop a strategy to restore normal economic activities, a package for industries, agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry sectors, besides finalising a plan to fill government vacancies.

The terms of the reference of the task force, as per the order, include: a. To develop a strategy/action plan for restoring normal economic activities in all sectors in the Union Territory. b. To develop a package for assistance to Industry/Agriculture/Horticulture/Animal Husbandry sectors to ensure normal functioning; and c. To finalize a time bound plan for recruitment to government to job vacancies at different levels alongwith the processes to be followed for early recruitment, keeping in mind the fiscal balance and monitor the recruitment order.

“The Task Force shall submit recommendations on (a) & (c) by 30.05.2020 and 15.05.2020 respectively,” the order reads.

The task force, as per the order, will be headed by financial commissioner as its Chairman. Seven of its members include Principal Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry/Agriculture and Horticulture department, Principal Secretary Planning department, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Commissioner Secretary Public Works, Secretary Power Development Department, Secretary General Administration Department, and Secretary Law, Justice and parliamentary affairs.
