Adv Kumar reviews dev scenario at Baramulla

Srinagar, Oct 3: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar accompanied by Chief Secretary B V R Subramaniyam and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Thursday visited Baramulla District and convened a meeting of the officers of the District Administration to review the developmental scenario in the District.

District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr G  N  Itoo besides other District and Sectoral Officers participated in the meeting.

The DDC on the occasion gave a detailed power point presentation about physical and financial achievements made under various sectors including R&B, Power, PMGSY, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Horticulture, Rural Development, Sports etc.

He also highlighted various issues and demands during the meeting. Regarding Back to Village programme, the DDC said that a good number of grievances and demands were noted on the spot at Panchayat level, while as various demands were fulfilled and some of the demands are being considered shortly. He said that various languishing developmental projects were taken up, of which several have been completed so far.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor appreciated the District Administration for their efforts for the welfare of the people.

He directed the officers to work with dedication and ensure every possible facility to the people. He asked officers to address public grievances on priority and emphasized the need of completion of developmental projects, for which he directed the concerned agencies to speed up the pace of work on developmental projects. He enjoined upon the officers to ensure attendance of employees in government offices so that the people will not suffer.

Later, a public outreach programme was held during which about twenty deputations and public representatives highlighted their problems and demanded early solution of their issues.

The deputation of Fruit Growers Association demanded that the rates under MIS should be enhanced, while as the Civil Society of Watergam Rafiabad demanded a Fire Station and start of Trauma Hospital constructed earlier. Similarly, the representatives of SanathanDharam Sabha, Baramulla demanded reconstruction and fencing of Shielputri Shrine, Khan Pora, Baramulla besides fencing of RamkundSitakund Mandir at Baramulla. They also demanded the accommodation for Migrant Traders in Migrant Colony constructed under PM’s package. The members of Sikh community Baramulla put forth their demand of reserved constituency in Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council for them. They also demanded minority posts in villages besides special employment drive for Sikh youth.

The Advisor assured the deputations that necessary steps will be taken to redress their genuine problems, while as a good number of developmental projects have been completed to facilitate people. He asked the DDC to look into public issues on priority and ensure that their genuine demands are fulfilled in a time bound manner.

Earlier, the Advisor chaired a separate meeting of the officers of   Security Agencies to review the overall situation of the District. DIG, North Kashmir, SSP Baramulla and other officers were present in the meeting.
