Srinagar, Jan 07: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohd Ashraf Sehrai on Monday expressed his gratitude and welcomed the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement for supporting the right of self-determination of the people of JK as per UNSC Resolutions.

However, Sehrai in a statement said merely issuing statements and occasional condemnation are not going to yield desired results. “The government of Pakistan should activate its diplomats to appraise the world about the violence in Kashmir. He said the absence of global criticism of the prevailing situation in Kashmir is highly condemnable,” he said.

He said that decades-old lingering issue and rights violations in Kashmir have “claimed or ruined numerous lives” and should be the subject of a high-level international probe. The chronic impunity for violations committed by government forces” and the political nature of the conflict had masked the “untold suffering” of millions of people.

He urged the UN Secretary-General and world powers to press New Delhi to stop the killings in Kashmir and to resolve Kashmir issue as per its historical background on the principle of RSD without further delay.
