27,85,731 children vaccinated till date across J&K

Jammu, Nov 09: Under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Atal Dulloo, a divisional level review meeting regarding Measles- Rubella Vaccination Campaign was held for Jammu Division here Friday at Gandhi Nagar Government Hospital Jammu.

The meeting was attended by Director, Health Services Jammu, Dr Samir Mattoo, Director, Family Welfare, Dr Arun Sharma, Assistant Director, Family Welfare, Jammu, State Immunization Officer, CMOs, Deputy CMOs, DIOs of all Districts of Jammu Division, BMOs of Rajouri and Doda districts beside SMO, WHO Jammu.

During the deliberations, the Principal Secretary was informed that a total of 37,72,960 children will be covered in the State out of which 27,85,731 children have been vaccinated till date, with 17,00,994 children covered in Kashmir Division and 10,84,737 in Jammu Division.

 

Dulloo asked the health authorities to build up awareness on a big scale in schools and outreach areas where stiff resistance has come up against the vaccination drive.

Principal Secretary was further informed that Kathua, Leh and Kargil districts have already achieved 100 % targets, while Budgam, Samba and Kulgam are on the verge of achieving their targets.

He instructed the health authorities of those districts which are far behind the target to gear to achieve the set targets by end of this month.

Director, Health Services also emphasized on the completion of MR Campaign in all the Districts of Jammu Division by the end of November 2018 as new initiatives are coming up.

Director, Family Welfare informed the meeting that a Special Immunization Drive, Mission Indradhanush is commencing on November 22, 2018 in the districts of Rajouri and Doda besides Vasectomy Fortnight is to be observed from November 21 to December 04, 2018 in the entire State.

Right time for holding assembly elections in JK: Congress

Srinagar, July 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir has said that time is right for holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mir also questioned the inordinate delay over holding of poll process in the State.

JKPCC President was addressing a day long political convention of Block Congress Committee Shahabad Veerinag in South Kashmir Wednesday.

 

Addressing the convention G.A.Mir said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are the worst hit in absence of an elected Govt, saying that inordinate delay over holding of poll process is questionable and demanded holding of assembly elections, at the earliest.

Mir cautioned the Party workers against the Forces, which are hell bent upon to create further chaos among the people in all the three regions, emphasizing them to remain vigilant and expose their nefarious designs before the people.

Mir said Congress party is the only unifying force in the Country and State, will do its utmost to safeguard the interests of the people of JK.

Referring to the recently concluded Parliamentary Elections in the Country, G.A.Mir said that BJP RSS were scared of Congress Party’s secular and pro people policies, as a result, they started a malicious campaign against the party before the elections, dividing people on religious and caste basis for the sake of electoral gains, Mir said, but at the same time, G.A. Mir felt confident that saffron party can no longer mislead the people on sensitive and emotional issues, as that, they (people) realized that it (BJP) can go to any extent to mislead them for the sake of power.

Mir said the JK State has witnessed ugliest situation in every respect due to the negligent and dictatorial attitude adopted by the BJP Govt at Centre, besides ignoring the urges and aspirations of the people.

“How long the State will remain under Governor’s Rule, Mir questioned and said people in all the three regions are feeling isolated in absence of the popular Govt, which is not being allowed to happen under the garb of deteriorating situation,” Mir added.

 “Jammu and Kashmir has suffered immensely on every count, Centre Govt should change its JK policy paving the way for holding Assembly Elections without any further dealy to ensure respite to people,” G.A. Mir said.

Congress strong enough to counter divisive forces: Mir

Srinagar, July 16: Stating that Congress party will continue to fight against divisive and exploitative forces in the country and state, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir has expressed confidence that people and Congress party in unison will ensure that the forces inimical to multiplicity and rich culture of harmony are defeated miserably.

JKPCC president was addressing series of party meetings at Manzmou, Tangloo, Hiller, Ujroo, Chandoog and Saidiwara in south Kashmir, emphasizing the party leaders and workers to rise to the occasion to defeat the exploitative forces, which are hell bent upon to exploit the people to serve their vested interests.

Describing the Congress Party a formidable force to reckon with, G.A Mir said Congress is capable enough defeat the forces inimical to peace and development in the State, shall continue to fight for the inclusive development of the State, which has received setbacks due to the negligent attitude of BJP Government at Centre.

 

Mir reiterated Congress party’s stand to maintain secular fabric and communal harmony at all costs and by all means and said the party will ensure defeat of communal and divisive forces, which were pitching the communities against each other in order to divide them on the basis of religion or regions, but the Congress party will defeat them tooth and nail.

“Congress never compromised on people’s urges and aspirations for electoral gains, it will continue to remain committed to fight against the political exploitation by BJP-RSS,” G.A. Mir added and appealed the people not to come under false propaganda of BJP and other opportunist parties, who have exploited them (people) equally for electoral gains.

Er Rasheed asks CB to avoid further delay in investigating Kupwara minor’s killing

Srinagar, July 16: Seeking justice for 8-year-old Umer Farooq who was brutally murdered after being kidnapped from his native village in Gulgam Kupwara last year, AIP president Er Rasheed has appealed for a thorough introspection in the society to get rid of criminal elements.
Speaking on functions at Gulgam organized to pay tributes to Umer Farooq on his first death anniversary, Er Rasheed said. “While it is encouraging that sources within the crime branch claim to have reached very close to the culprits, it is need of the hour to avoid further delay in resolving the mystery. Crime branch must come out with its findings and take the investigation of the barbaric incident to its logical end so that trial in a fast track court is initiated.” Rasheed further added that while entire humanity within and outside state got shocked after the incident but we all need to have a sincere introspection to find out the reasons behind such sick and barbaric mentality that can turn humans worst than the wild beasts.

The society needs an introspection to find out reasons that why it is losing moral values and a huge chunk of youth are becoming drug addicts. Parents, teachers, religious clerics and common masses need to unite and ensure that the entire society is made de-addicted from the menace of drugs, he said.
