PHE, I&FC dept casual labourers demand release of wages, regularisation

Srinagar, April 01: Jammu and Kashmir Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE)  casual labourers Association and Casual and Seasonal Laborers Association of Irrigation and Flood control Department on Monday held a joint protest demonstration here at Lalchowk demanding regularization of their services and release of their pending wages.

Scores of protesters from Public Health and Engineering (PHE) Department and Irrigation and Flood control (I&FC) Department assembled here in Pratap park and were shouting slogans against the government for not releasing their pending wages.

President of Budgam casual and seasonal labourers association, Khursheed Ahmad said, their wages are pending in the department from last twenty months and appealed the Governor administration to release their wages.

He said they are working in the department since last two decades as casual labours. “We are demanding to regularise our services and implement SRO 520 for us,” he said.

He also said that, “We are facing many hardships as we don’t have a single penny and are not able to fulfil our basic needs.’’

The protesters requested the Governor administration to look into the matter and release their pending wages.
