Srinagar, March 27: Former deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said that the party has made its footprints in Jammu and Kashmir, while exuding confidence that the party will emerge victorious from one of the Lok Sabha seats out of three in Kashmir province.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the rally in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Gupta said that in the recently held ULB and Panchayat polls, BJP has unfurled it flag and has made its footprints in Kashmir, therefore, “we are hopeful that we will win one of three seats in Kashmir in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
He added that BJP want a peaceful atmosphere in South Kashmir that can only happen under the leadership of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
About relation with Pakistan, Gupta said, “BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee had extended a hand to Pakistan for better relationship but but the response of Pakistan was not good. We also want friendly ties with them; we want ‘Ache Rishte’ with Pakistan but they should also reciprocate in the same manner.”
He added that any country that will give space to militants can never move forward.
About slogans of BJP against Congress, Gupta said that Congress is virtually felling helpless and are seeking help from other parties for the upcoming elections. “In the next elections, Congress will be nowhere,” he added.
About situation in Kashmir, he said that the only issue is PoK that has to be taken back from Pakistan.
About PDP asking for support to JKLF and Jamaat-e-Islami, Gupta said it is a democratic country and everybody has a right to do anything.
