Srinagar: Several leaders of Peoples Democratic Party were not allowed to leave homes to attend the meeting called by party general secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura at the headquarters in Srinagar on Thursday.

The PDP leaders who were barred from attending the meeting include Naeem Akhtar, GNL Hanjura, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Khurshid Alam, Aijaz Mir, Waheed Rehman Para, and Mohammad Yousuf Bhat.

The leaders posted videos of them being disallowed from leaving their homes by security personnel.

“Despite being free on paper and in govt submissions in HC and SC, PDP Leadership continues to be under illegal detention, without any official orders. Video from today – I wasn’t allowed to attend the PDP meeting nor were any of my colleagues,” tweeted Naeem Akhtar.

“Under whose orders have all senior party leaders been detained while administration is on record in Hon’ble High Court claiming no one is under house arrest,” PDP tweeted on its official handle while sharing the video in which Naeem Akhtar is seen being stopped by police from leaving for the meeting.

In another tweet where party shared its leader Hanjura being held back by police, PDP wrote: “Exposed!! Administration that brazenly lied and misled Hon’ble High Court. Here General Secretary GNL Hanjura Sb not allowed to proceed further to attend the party meeting.”
