Srinagar, Sep 26: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today in a communiqué has demanded that it is high time to upgrade District Hospitals into Primary Interventional Hospitals.
It is now time to have a one roof facility to give people high-end health facilities at doorsteps. Medical science has evolved with such a pace that it has already touched the sky-high success in last decade said DAK President Dr Suhail Naik.
It is age of interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, interventional neurology and interventional gastroenterology Dr Naik added.
It is now an established fact that by doing interventions within golden hour, doctors are potentially saving precious human lives without any morbidities. Depriving poor patients from evidence-based established health protocols and interventions within prescribed time period is gross human rights violations. Keeping in view good number of super specialists, working in rural health care delivery system and their potential to start interventional medicine at peripheral hospitals, it is high time to upgrade one of the district hospitals in north and one in south to interventional hospital Dr Naik further added.
Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary DAK said that upgrading health facilities is dire need of the hour and such health initiatives will decrease burden on already overburdened central hospitals besides providing rationale treatment to public at gross root level.
Non-availability of modern upgraded interventional gadgetry is forcing our super specialists to leave state after vigorous professional training for fifteen long years. They are able to do all the versatile interventions at district hospitals provided infrastructure is upgraded up to the mark Dr Owais added.
In this context DAK has demanded that two district hospitals, one in north and one in south Kashmir must be upgraded to interventional hospitals, so that people will get recommended evidence backed treatment at their door step.
It is responsibility of state government to upgrade rural health care so that people will get relief as health is fundamental right of all.
Unless and until health system is not upgraded, providing health insurance covering to people, employees will never change health indices.
