Two drug peddlers arrested in Handwara: Police

Handwara, Mar 02: Police on Monday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Handwara.

“Officers on a checkpoint at Adoora Bridge in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad intercepted one person identified as Ashiq Hussain War resident of Chak Adoora. Officers at the checkpoint were able to recover 200gms of charas from his possession. He have been arrested and shifted to police station Qalamabad where he remains in custody,” police said in a statement.

 

As case under FIR No. 09/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qalamabad.

Similarly, Officers on a checkpoint at Humpora Crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund intercepted one person identified as Ab Majeed Lone resident of Humpora Kralgund. Officers at the checkpoint were able to recover 1.1Kgs of Charas from his possession. He have been arrested and shifted to police station Kralgund where he remains in custody.

Case FIR No. 10/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralgund. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
