To compensate academic losses : School education orders extra-classes for students

Srinagar, Apr 16: In a bid to overcome the loss in academics of students due to “untoward circumstances”, Director School Education Kashmir has issued fresh instructions to all the Heads of the Institutions to arrange extra classes for the students and ensure the timely completion of syllabus.

Director school education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo directed all the Headmasters and Head Teachers to compulsorily take classes alongside another teaching faculty of the Institution and not to attend the offices during the school hours, a senior official of the education department told GNS.

DSEK issued these fresh instructions in a special meet of Joint Directors, Chief Education Officers and DIET Principals in the Conference Hall of Directorate of School Education Kashmir, the official said.

The director according to the official directed all the Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers to personally participate in the monitoring mechanism and ensure the implementation of these instructions on ground level.

During this meet, DSEK in clear terms directed all the Head of the Institutions to arrange extra classes and in no circumstances, they should attend the offices during schools hours. He also directed all the Headmasters to take classes themselves in the schools. He said that no lapse in this regard shall be tolerated and in case of any emergency to attend the offices, they have to seek prior permission from the concerned ZEO or CEO telephonically, the official said.

DSEK appreciated all those Head of the Institutions and teachers who had voluntarily kept their schools open for students despite holiday. He said the conduct of class work in some schools despite Sunday is very encouraging and a formal order shall be issued very soon in this regard, the official said.

Taking a stock of teacher training programmes in Kashmir, DSEK directed SIE Kashmir to prepare a roadmap to make the conduct of the trainings more fruitful, effective and smooth. It was decided the timing for the training programmes in future shall be from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Many other important issued were also discussed in the meeting and it was attended by all Joint Directors, CEOs and Principals of DIETS, the official added.
