Snowfall: Div Comm, Secy PHE to coordinate measures

Srinagar, Jan 4: After fresh snowfall in Kashmir on Friday, the Secretary Irrigation, PHE & Disaster Management Farooq Ahmed Shah arrived in Srinagar to take measures to ensure basic facilities to the people in snowy days.
Soon after the snowfall began, Governor Satya Pal Malik and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam directed Shah to reach Kashmir and coordinate with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan.
“Shah was also directed to coordinate relief measures, snow clearance, drainage, power supply and other restoration of services with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir,” sources said.

 

Ensure uninterrupted services: DC Srinagar to depts


Srinagar, Jan 5: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on Friday said that the ADC Srinagar, ACR Srinagar and SDM East Srinagar will function as nodal officers to monitor the situation in view of the fresh snowfall in the district.
“ADC Srinagar (9419151189), ACR Srinagar (7006690719), SDM East Srinagar (9018991010) will function as nodal officers to monitor the situation within their respective areas of jurisdiction,” said Dr Shah.
Instructions have been issued to all concerned departments regarding the preparedness about snow-clearance and dewatering following snowfall in the district.
The departments have been asked to ensure meeting any eventuality arising out of the prevalent weather situation in the district being directed to keep adequate men and machinery on standby.
The DC instructed the concerned departments to ensure timely clearance of snow from all main roads, lanes and by-lanes, especially roads leading to important installations like hospitals and receiving stations.
He also directed all the departments to establish control rooms for the convenience of the general public. He directed for close coordination between all the departments as long as the current weather situation prevails.
