Sehrai, Malik attend funeral prayers of Geelani’s son-in-law

Srinagar, Nov 14: Scores of people including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik attended the funeral procession of the son-in-law of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani at Dooru village of Sopore in north Kashmir Baramulla district.

Reports said that despite heavy rains people in large number assembled at local school ground Dooru to participate in the last rites of Geelani’s Son-in-law.

Ghulam Hassan Makhdoomi, 65 years of age was detected with cancer in the abdomen and passed away on Tuesday at SKIMS Soura after being treated for last more than one year.

Husband of Geelani’s eldest of daughters, Shafeeqa also over 60 years of age, Mukhdoomi is survived by two sons and two daughters. While both his daughters are married and settled, one of his sons is a computer operator and another is doing his own business.

Witnesses said hundreds of friends, relatives and neighbours of Makhdoomi’s attended the funeral procession at Dooru village of Sopore.

Geelani, according to Hurriyat sources could not make it to the funeral prayers due to health issues.
