Srinagar, July 4: Expressing strong resentment and anger over arrest and slapping of draconian Public Safety Act on three Anantnag youth, Shabir Ahmed Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rahter, Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh son of Mehr Ali and Aijaz Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Muhammad and shifting them to Jammu’s Kotbalwal Jail, the Hurriyat (M) Wednesday said these repressive measures are being used as tools to punish the innocent people and to force people of Kashmir into a submission.
In a statement issued here, Hurriyat (M) strongly denounced the CASO of at least 17 villages in Hajin, Bandipora amid deployment of thousands of forces personnel stating that people were kept hostages in their own homes for hours together while as youth were questioned and harassed during the search operation.
“The Hurriyat said that when people of Hajin protested against the unjustified forces’ action dozens of protestors sustained injuries when government forces resorted to indiscriminate pellet and tear gas shelling at them, which deserves all forms of condemnation. These coercive and oppressive measures can’t break the resolve of freedom loving people of Kashmir,” Hurriyat (M) said.
Meanwhile, on the directions of chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq , a delegation led by senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza visited Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla and inquired about the health of those injured in the forces action recently at Pulwama. The delegation prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured
Another delegation comprising senior members that include Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ghulam Nabi Najar, and Ghulam Muhammad Pandit, visited the residence of slain militant Sajad Ahmed Shah at Chogul Handwara and expressed solidarity with his family members.
“Mirwaiz also spoke to the slain militant’s father over the phone and stated that sacrifices offered by the youth are great assets of the ongoing movement and it was because of these priceless sacrifices,” read the statement.
The Hurriyat (M) spokesman also expressed grief over the deaths and damage to property caused by the yesterday’s thunderstorms and incessant rains across Kashmir including Srinagar. The spokesman urged people to arrange prayers for repentance and seeking Allah’s forgiveness from the wrath of natural calamities.
