Palestinian doctor delivers Friday sermon in West Bank mosque informing people about coronavirus

Srinagar, Mar 16: In an interesting development, a mosque in Palestine allowed a doctor to deliver the sermon last Friday (March 14) to inform the people about the precautions needed to keep coronavirus at bay.

The news was reported by Palestinian daily Al-Hayat al-Jadida and also confirmed by WAFA, a Palestinian news agency.

Pictures of the doctor standing on the pulpit and delivering his speech were widely shared on social media.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that it was for the first time a doctor gave the Friday prayers sermon at a mosque in the West Bank city of Tulkarm instead of the mosque imam in order to educate people about coronavirus.

The development is seen as a major shift in routine religious activities considering that the whole world has been engulfed by Coronavirus pandemic, across continents people are asked to take necessary precautions to avoid being infected.
