Srinagar, Feb 8: Accusing BJP and RSS of unleashing a reign of terror in Jammu region, Tribal Coordination Committee J&K Unit Thursday said that despite clear proof and evidences, the culprits responsible for the rape of and murder of minor nomad girl Asifa are being shielded with full support of BJP and RSS particularly from Hera Nagar legislator.
People from Gujjar and Bakarwal community assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a massive protest against the ruthless attitude of BJP and RSS parties against them in Jammu region.
They alleged that State Government handed over the case with regard to rape and murder of Asifa to Crime Branch on the behest of BJP. “Investigating Officer Adil Raja had almost zeroed in on the culprits when he was removed on the behest of Heera Nagar BJP legislator,” said Talib Hussain Bajran adding that case was handed over to Crime Branch to divert the attention of the people.
“We have already identified the two accused responsible for this heinous crime. Sanjhi Patwari and his son are the main culprits but instead of questioning them, they were shielded,” he said.
The protesters said that ever since the formation of BJP-PDP coalition government, Gujjar and Bakarwal community are being targeted in every part of Jammu. “We were forcibly evacuated from our forest land.  Jammu Kashmir Government doesn’t implement the Forest Rights Act on the behest of BJP Minister Lal Singh. Lal Singh has been encouraging ‘Bhagva’ elements who have been leaving no stone-turned to harass us. Asifa became the  victim because of our demand for the implementation of Forest Right Act,” the protesters said.
