The strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway was blocked on Tuesday after fresh landslides in Ramban district.

Reports said traffic remained halted on the highway since 5 am on Tuesday after heavy rains triggered landslides in Dalwas area of Batote in the district damaging a portion of the road.

Hundreds of vehicles clogged on the highway even as the authorities were trying to clear it for the traffic.

Officials concerned said they have started the road clearance operation to restore the highway, which may take some time.

Meanwhile, at three persons including a woman were buried alive under a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Reasi district, officials said on Tuesday.
