Srinagar, Oct 29: Job aspirants from Kashmir Valley Monday urged upon Governor Satya Pal Malik to order a thorough probe into what they alleged a ‘recruitment scam’ for jobs in State Bank of India (SBI).

Scores of job aspirants who had appeared in SBI examination for clerical posts in 2017 alleged that the posts exclusively meant for Kashmir and Ladakh were given to the aspirants from Jammu Division.

“State Bank of India through its nodal agency Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducted a special recruitment drive for job aspirants of Kashmir and Ladakh in 2016. They issued an advertisement notice vide number CRPD/CR/2016-17/01 under which they were supposed to fill up the 188 clerical posts from Kashmir and Ladakh. Hundreds of aspirants from Kashmir Valley and Ladakh applied for these posts and appeared in written tests followed by interview,” the aspirants told media.

They said as a Diwali Gift, the Bank declared results on October 27, 2016 but, “to our shock those selected were from Jammu who was not part of this special recruitment drive.”

“The Bank did injustice towards the people of Kashmir and Ladakh. We tried to raise our voice but nobody listened. We were hopeful that a probe will be initiated into the scam after Radio Kashmir Srinagar on January 24, 2017 broadcasted a detailed picture of these ‘sham’ examinations but still authorities remained mum and didn’t come forward for our help,” they said and appealed incumbent Jammu Kashmir Governor Satya Paul Malik to initiate a probe into this recruitment scam.
