Srinagar: The final results of IAS 2019 have come out and 829 candidates have cracked the ever-exhaustive Civil Services.

While Pradeep Singh has topped the exam, Pratibha Verma is the topper among women candidates.

However, a bizarre coincidence is one candidate way down the list. Rahul Modi, roll number 6312980 is listed at Rank 420 in the official Civil Services 2019 Result declared on Tuesday.

Call it a strange happenstance that a to-be Civil Servant carries both Rahul and Modi – the names of the two biggest political rival leaders in India – in his name.

Neither Congress’s Rahul Gandhi nor PM Narendra Modi would have ever imagined that a candidate carrying one’s first name and another’s last name would make the Civil Services cut.

Rahul Modi is expected to make it to Central Services Group A given his rank as IAS, IPS, and IFS cadres are all to be given to candidates with higher ranks. The final result is available on the official website of UPSC.

The UPSC has declared the final list of selected candidates based on the result of the written part of Civil Services Examination, 2019 held in September, 2019 and the interviews or Personality Test held in February-August, 2020.

Among those who had availed the EWS quota, which was implemented in the Civil Services Exam for the first time in 2019, 78 candidates have been selected.

The result of 11 candidates has been kept withheld.
